Preparing a standard solution!

  • Nov 11, 2014

We were asked to bring our lab coat today. We prepared a standard solution of iodine together. First we weighed 1.3g of iodine and then we weighed 2g of potassium iodide.

We heated the potassium iodide well before weighing it since it has a tendency of absorbing water from air.

Then we dissolved the potassium iodide in distilled water followed by the iodine.

We made a 1 litre solution in a 1L volumetric flask.

We stored this in a dark cupboard for use in the titration against Vitamin C.
