1. Extraction and Filtration of Juice

Introduction

Fruit juices are the extract of the fruit to a liquid. In our investigation we are going to extract the juice of some fruit and vegetables so that we can perform some tests. If the juice contains fruit pul, we plan to pass it through a cheese cloth so that we are left with clear juice.

 

Apparatus and materials                                                                                                                                                    

  • Food processor 

  • Cheese cloth

  • 250mL beaker

 

Method

1. The fruit/vegetables to be tested were brought to the laboratory in order to extract juice from them.

2. Approximately 3-4 fruit/vegetables were blended using a food processor together.

3. The juice was strained through a cheese cloth in order to remove large pieces of pulp which could obstruct the pipette during the titration.

4. The filtrate was collected in a 250mL beaker and used immediately for various food tests.
